The Briddge Group - What We Do

The Briddge Group develops plans for collectors from all three segments of the art market: Fine Arts (paintings, prints, sculpture, photography), Antiques & Decorative Arts (furniture, silver, objets de virtu), and Collectibles (stamps, coins, wine, books, memorabilia, cars).

The Briddge Group will tailor a plan for each unique collection through a four-step process:

1. Documentation

Using our collection management system, we inventory the entire collection and create a record for the collector, their advisory team, and their heirs. This database thoroughly describes each piece, its cost basis, and provenance, while at the same time addresses title concerns (ownership rights) and risk management issues.

2. Quality Assessment

Our team of experts is now in a position to individually analyze each piece in the collection to determine its aesthetic quality and historical importance. We also identify items which may be in need of conservation and restoration. Next, we examine and analyze both auction records and dealer prices to develop a current opinion of valuation. Finally, this information is integrated with our signature three-tiered grading system to develop the most appropriate plan options.

3. Articulation of Plan Options

Having established this essential foundation of documentation and valuation, collectors are now in the best position to articulate their specific intentions regarding the collection. Working with their advisory team, they can now consider all options, including current sales, creation of income from the collection, and current gifts to heirs and charities. Long range options may include innovative post-mortem sales, distribution to heirs, gifts to charities or the creation of a family art legacy.

4. Plan Execution

Our team implements a specific course of action that carefully considers the people and causes about which collectors care the most. Through careful planning and leveraging of the collection, collectors can leave a meaningful inheritance and legacy while significantly reducing their tax liability.
